Hayward Regional Shoreline

Managed by the East Bay Regional Park District, the Hayward Regional Shoreline encompasses 1,811 acres of salt, fresh, and brackish water marshes, seasonal wetlands and public trails.

Managed by the East Bay Regional Park District, the Hayward Regional Shoreline encompasses 1,811 acres of salt, fresh, and brackish water marshes, seasonal wetlands and public trails. Visit the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center for photo displays, changing exhibits, and information on some of the animals and birds found in the wetland areas — as well as current updates on recently seen species.

Activities: Hiking, bicycling, jogging, bird watching, picnicking and fishing. Nature programs for children run throughout the year.

Fauna: The endangered California Least Tern can be found along the shoreline, along with egrets, plovers, rails, willets, and a variety of ducks.
